Additive Manufacturing for a Sustainable Future

Date: 12th December 2023

Time: 9.30AM – 3.30PM GMT

Location: National Manufacturing Institute Scotland

This workshop, hosted by Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence and National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS), provides a unique opportunity for industrial stakeholders to attain a technology advantage within additive manufacturing and remanufacturing whilst addressing environmental and economic challenges for Future-Resilient Net Zero Targets.

Additive manufacturing, or 3D printing, offers unique opportunities to reduce waste, energy consumption, and transportation emissions. By optimizing designs through numerical tools such as Simufact Additive, manufacturers can improve part performance while minimizing material usage. This approach not only enhances sustainability but also reduces production costs.

By incorporating sustainability practices, additive manufacturing contributes to more efficient and eco-friendly production methods, aligning with global efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of manufacturing processes. When it comes to sustainability and the circular economy, both remanufacturing and additive manufacturing have a lot of room for improvement. A strong dedication to sustainability principles, in-depth knowledge of relevant materials, and specialised technical expertise are all required for success in these areas. Furthermore, as technology and processes continue to revolutionise at speed, it is not only vital but critical to stay abreast of cutting-edge advancements in each discipline.
